The second season of the Florida Football Alliance (FFA) opened on January 10th, 2009 and included a record 18 teams in all, nine (9) of which were brand new membership entries into the league.  Gone were the Daytona Beach Vikings, Treasure Coast Hornets, and West Coast Bears, previous members of the 2008 season.

One of the new teams to join the FFA in 2009 were the North Florida Rams, a team reorganized from players that were on the 2008 roster of the Duval Panthers.  The same Panthers team that was created as a result of the First Coast Generals and North Florida Rams merger the previous season, decided to "get the band back together", so-to-speak.  Thus, the new North Florida squad was reborn.

For the first time, the league was able to divide into two separate conferences, the AFC and NFC, with two divisions of teams in each.

It was on opening day of the 2009 season that the Duval Panthers ended the 26-game win streak of the Miami Magic City Bulls, posting a 13-6 victory over the defending FFA Champions.  The win would provide the Panthers a small measure of redemption against a Bulls team that eliminated Duval in the 2008 playoffs less than a year prior.  2009 would become another banner regular season for the Panthers who would go on to record nine wins against a single loss, a 23-20 heartbreaker to the Florida Falcons two weeks later on January 24th.

The lone undefeated team during the 2009 regular season was that of the eventual FFA Champion Port St Lucie Bobcats, who went on to breeze thru two post-season playoff victories before winning a hard fought battle versus the Bulls in Alliance Bowl-II, 40-34, on May 1st in Daytona Beach, Florida.

2009 would also mark the beginning of the end for two organizations.  The Orlando Outlaws and Nature Coast Knights posted winless campaigns before ceasing operations at season's end.  Neither team would ever record an on-field victory during their short existence.

Posted below are the post-season results and regular season standings for 2009.
