Solomon Jones in Game Action LCFL NEWS WIREBlackhawk Receiver Solomon Jones Sets New Minor League Record

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 30, 2010) -- There is now a new leader for Receiving Yards in a game in Minor League Football history and he resides in Inglewood California.  (WR) Solomon Jones broke the National record of 314 yards set on 10/10/1970 by Newark Jays receiver, Don Shanklin.  Shanklin had 9 receptions for 314 yards and 5 TD's.  Jones broke the record with 316 yards on 8 receptions and had 4 TD's.  Jones joins former Blackhawk receiver, Sirr Parker in the National record books.  Parker is #6 on the list with a 270 yard performance in 2006.  This is a major feat for a player from the LCFL to record the best receiving game ever in Minor League Football.  Jones touchdowns came on receptions of 83, 30, 63, and 58 yards.  "It's such an honor to coach a player like Jones", stated Blackhawk head coach Tony Reid.  If the QB puts the ball within a yard in front, back, or side of him, it's a house call or a big gain.  This performance will put Jones atop the single season game receiving category located at www.semiprofootball.org.

On a night that saw the Minor League Football National Receiving Record broken, it also served as an evening to see the Inglewood Blackhawks take their 2010 record to 6-0 and 2-0 in LCFL play.  But the night belonged to (WR) Solomon Jones who went ape crazy on the Vikings secondary as he recorded the best receiving game ever in Minor League Football history with 8 receptions for 316 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the host Inglewood Blackhawks to an impressive 57-13 victory over the visiting Antelope Valley Vikings. All of Jones touchdowns came in spectacular fashion with his longest going for 83 yards.  Jones put on a show for the Blackhawk fans as he
recorded a magnificent 39.5 average on every catch.  His touchdown receptions came on receptions of 83, 30, 63, and 58 yards.  This performance will put Jones atop the single season game receiving category located at www.semiprofootball.org. Jones wasn't the only offensive weapon for the "Bird Gang" as (RB) Brian Flowers scored twice on the ground for the Blackhawks and also added a 2 point conversion to his credit.  (WR) Paul Ruggio scored his first touchdown as a Blackhawk
on a 42 yard catch and run from (QB) Devin Hollins.  Hollins 3 of 8 for 127 yds 2 TD's) and (QB) Reggie Haynes (3 of 4 for 130 yds 2 TD's) both had two scoring passes each and put up great numbers while (QB) Johnny Jackson added another on a 58 yard pass.

Andre Velasquez in WILD action LCFL NEWS WIRETri-County Titans hand Ventura a 46-6 beat down in pre-season

(Manhattan Beach, California July 17, 2010) It is always difficult to plan and execute against a team that you don’t know much about.  The Ventura Sabers were a team that had something to prove from the moment they walked off of the bus Saturday night.

“The first half of this football game was a very sluggish 30 minutes of football”, stated Titans Head Coach Juwan Hurd.  The Titans went into the locker room with a 3-0 halftime lead but were hardly satisfied by their performance.  By all accounts the first half simply wasn’t acceptable, “we had to reduce our penalties, and execute on offense and defense.  Fortunately, at halftime as a staff we made our adjustments and came out in the second half and put up 43 points.” Coach Hurd added, “It’s something special to be reunited with Andre Velazquez, who had 2 touchdowns on the evening, electrifying the crowd returning another punt to the end zone and scampering to score on a 43 yard reception.  I was equally impressed with the play of defensive back, G’Vaughn Francis scoring twice on the defensive side of the ball. When you have the ability to score on all three phases of the game, great things will happen.”

Francis is up to his old ways finding his way to the ball and making what he calls, “A HOUSE CALL.”  “My teammates do their part and we simply work together as a team”, Francis stated.  Coach “Kev” Dotson added, “we will put relentless pressure on the quarterback to take them out of their game and with our defensive back corps of skilled veterans we like our chances.”  Although, the “Dotson Difference” was apparent other scoring was led by touchdown strikes from quarterback Cleven Doty to Wide receivers Velazquez, Donnell Johnson and tight end Terrance Medley.  Donte Gamble had yet another mindblowing interception return nullified by penalty his second in as many weeks.  “Players just want to block for each other and score EVERY time they touch the ball, it becomes a game within a game”, stated former defensive back turned Executive Director of Player Personnel Grady Tucker.  He adds, “Mr. Bowers has given me carte blanch to obtain the best “program players” as Coach Turner likes to call it to play for the Titans this season.  Players looking to be “Sweatsuit All-Americans” won’t cut it with this program.  The LCFL added quality new programs and with the likes of North County, Las Vegas, Inglewood and others all improving, we had to step our game up.  In other words, with the Titans check your ego at the gate as you may have been a starter with another squad but you may be a quality back up here.”

The aforementioned Titans Offensive Coordinator Nate Turner said after the game, “Coach Hurd told the coaches to fix the attitude and energy and the team will follow suit!” In other words, TITAN UP!  The result as mentioned earlier was a 43 point explosion and they were just warming up…the Titans will have to cool their heels for a couple weeks until they take on the Defending UFAL Champion California Raiders on July 31st at 7pm at San Bernardino High School.

Blackhawks win a close one 16-13 LCFL NEWS WIRE: Blackhawks Down Thunder 16-13  in Pre-Season Opener
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 29, 2010) -- The Inglewood Blackhawks (1-0) kicked off the 2010 season on a good note walking away with a 16-13 victory over the San Diego Thunder of the UFAL.  The game started off in the expected way with 2 penalties on the opening kickoff.  The Blackhawks were flagged for being offsides and the Thunder were penalized for an illegal block below the waste which prompted for a re-kick.  The Blackhawk defense came out on fire with great intensity and pressure on Thunder quarterback, Justin Happ.  The Blackhawks were led by (DE) Doniel Galloway who had a marvelous debut for the Blackhawks collecting 6 tackles and 3 sacks on the day.  Doniel was instrumental in helping the Blackhawks sack Happ 8 times on the game.  (DT) Victor Fonseca (4 tackles 1 sack), (DE) Kori Dickerson (4 tackles 2 sacks), and (LB) Roy Otis (5 tackles 1 sack) all were effective in only allowing two completion's on the day.  The secondary kept the Thunder receivers in check with great coverage, good position, and some ferocious hits.

(DB) Eddie Hunter stood out on defense with great coverage and special teams (4 PR for 108 yards) which earned him the Pit Bull Energy Drink Player of the Game.  "Eddie had a great game and great energy which elevated the play of those around him", stated defensive coach, Brian Banks.  If Eddie plays at this same level all year long and force teams to throw to the other side, it's going to be a great year and record breaking year for the Blackhawk secondary.

Offensively, the Blackhawks dominated the line of scrimmage with their new rushing attack which includes (RB) Brian Flowers (9 carries 91 yards 1 TD), Ronald Jean (6 carries 62 yards), Ty Evans (3 carries 21 yards), and Tyrone McKinney (5 carries 38 yards).  The Blackhawks rushed for a total of 223 yards on the day while only passing for 124 yards.  "That was our plan of attack today", stated head coach, Tony Reid.  We wanted to establish our running game and solidify a comfort zone for our future opponents.  There were a lot of cameras in the bleachers scouting us so we only showed what we needed too.  We have a lot of work to do to get better but we won't cut off our players heads being that this was the first game.  (K) Mark Drake was the man of the day kicking 3 field goals (21, 36, 47 yds) to keep the Thunder at arms distance.

The Blackhawks will now take a 3 week rest and prepare for their next opponent, the Carson Ragin Bulls who they will host on Saturday, July 17th at home.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.  With the three week period in place, the Blackhawks will get the needed time to heal up some injuries.  (WR) Michael Ross (Fresno State) will be back from a rib injury he sustained in practice which kept him out of the Thunder game.  Also, (WR) Solomon Jones and (WR) Thyron Lewis both will be back for this game as their arena/indoor seasons have just concluded.
LCFL players compete in Airshow LCFL NEWS WIRE: Tri-County Titans win 2010 UFAL "Air it Up" Tournament

San Bernardino - (4/24/2010) -- It was a bright sunny day in San Bernardino as the Tri-County Titans entered their first competition on Saturday in the UFAL Air It Up Passing Tournament. “They were ready to compete as they have been waiting for some competition other than themselves at practice,” stated co-owner Jim Bowers.

It clearly showed as they stepped on the field first against the Southern California Heat. The Titans were able to strike first after stopping the Heat’s first possession. They scored on four plays and got their sideline and the fans excited. Although they dominated the first half, the Heat were not going to go down lightly. They literally put on the Heat and tied it up at the end to take it to overtime. The Titans gathered themselves and realized that this was a game and the Heat were not giving up. The Titans immediately made a move and won in overtime 32-26.

Defensive coordinator Kevin Dotson was not impressed with his defense. “The players know they are earning their spots right now. If you don’t play smart, you don’t play at all” said Coach Dotson. “I have some of the best defensive players in the league. There is no room to make mistakes as we are here to win it all, NO EXCEPTIONS!”

The defense showed their coach they fully understood what was at stake as they shut out and dominated the Orange County Ravens in their semi-final matchup. The Ravens seemed to quit as they were being punished by the powerful defense of the Titans. The offense of the Titans didn’t seem to help matters any as they were able to move the ball down the field as they pleased. They didn’t need to get big yardage either. It was about 6 yards a completion as they walked the Ravens to the endzone. The game ended abruptly with a 14-0 finish and sent the Ravens to consolation and the Titans to the Championship.

The Championship game was nothing different as the Titans continued their domination. They faced the California Tide, which was determined to topple the Titans from winning their league event. Former Titans backup quarterback, Michael Ceasar, led the California Tide to face the Titans in the Championship. It was obvious he had something to prove to the Titans coaching staff. He almost did when he threw a touchdown for the first score of the game to put the Tide up 6-0 on the Titans. Unfortunately, that didn’t last as the Tide were only able to put up one more score as the Titans defense intercepted the ball 3 times to put the game away. “It was the band of brotherhood displayed through adversity that enabled us to pull through and turn the game around” expressed defensive coach Tim Lane.

“I was not only proud of our defense, I was very proud of our offense and their poise when things sometimes went wrong,” stated Bowers, “They adjusted, backed each other, and prevailed through it all to come out with a win every time.”

The Titans leadership was very proud of how the players performed on Saturday. Although the players and staff know they have a lot of work to do still, they were happy they came out on top. “Our players understand they are being evaluated every day and this was an opportunity to see where they are. We will get better, we will complete, and we will win” said co-owner Nate Turner.

“As a 22 year military veteran, the importance of organization is critical for mission accomplishment. We clearly displayed these critical elements in the tournament” expressed Coach Grady Tucker, “It’s still early but we are very impressed with the teams unity and the coaching synergy. We can clearly tell this program is being run by individuals that have participated in all levels of competition.”

Congratulations Titans players, staff and fans for a great accomplishment. Titans hit practice hard once again on May 1st to put in more hard work and prepare for their next competition.

Blackhawks (CB) Kareem Larrimore LCFL NEWS WIRE: Former Dallas Cowboy DB poised for big season in WEST!

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 1, 2010) -- When defensive back Kareem Larrimore signed with the Blackhawks in 2009, he was just looking to get in game shape and get ready for the upcoming UFL season. But as things turned out, Larrimore ultimately became one of the key pieces to the Blackhawk's defensive puzzle as he had a very productive season at the cornerback position. In 2010, Larrimore is looking to set the tone from the beginning and help lead the Blackhawks to a productive 2010 campaign. "Im excited about the season", stated Larrimore. Last year, I didn't know what to expect from this level of football but now I see that I'm going to have to be the Kareem from my Cowboy days.

Larrimore was a fourth round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2000 NFL Draft. To date, he is the only rookie to ever start at cornerback on the opening day of the NFL season for the Cowboys. Former Dallas Cowboy teammate Joey Galloway and defensive back coach Dave Campo both have stated that Larrimore is one of the best defensive backs to suit up in the NFL. Former NFL receiver and Blackhawk supporter, Az Hakim calls him "Lil Prime" (comparing Larrimore to Deoin Sanders). "Larrimore is the business", stated Hakim. This dude right here can strap em up right now and start on someone's NFL team. "I remember watching Sportcenter and watching him return an interception 95 yards against the Saints" says Hakim.

After Larrimore's tenure with the Cowboys, he went on to play a few seasons in the AFL with the Dallas Desperadoes and Austin Wranglers. Now Larrimore looks to add the same NFL passion to his play with the Blackhawks. "Kareem has shown from the beginning of camp in 2010 that he's serious about this season and if he has to put the team on his back, he will", stated head coach Tony Reid. "I'm excited about the season and I'm ready to hit the field with my teammates" says Larrimore. "Last year I came in at week 4 of the season and the LCFL got a revised version of me. This season it's gonna be a totally different #41 out there. Im bringing an NFL type game to the LCFL so wide receivers, you have been warned."
